PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of quickly reading backup data stored in a slave storage device at a remote site side when a master site side is stricken with a disaster, or the like regarding a storage system. SOLUTION: The system has a master storage device 110 having a main volume (V1) and a sub volume (V2) at the master site and a slave storage device 120 having a backup volume for storing V2 data at the remote site and performs remote backup of V1 data. The remote site side stores management information (C) of a target volume in any device. When reading the data of the backup volume, for example, one slave storage device 120 reads the management information (C), and performs processing that collects data of a plurality of backup volumes and unifies the data of the plurality of backup volumes as one volume.
