PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic atomizer wherein a voltage to be applied between its discharge electrode and counter electrode can be lowered without causing electric discharge at the counter electrode and consequently without decreasing the amount of charged liquid microparticles, even if both the electrodes are disposed in their mutual proximity. SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomizer comprised of a discharge electrode 1, a counter electrode 2 having a release hole 20, a liquid supply means 3 for supplying a liquid to the discharge electrode 1, and a voltage application member 4 for applying a voltage between the discharge electrode 1 and the counter electrode 2 is characterized in that at least one end part of the inner face 20a of the release hole 20 of the counter electrode 2, which end part is disposed on the near side to the discharge electrode 1, is made to have a convex curved face for preventing electric discharge.
