PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide light source equipment capable of obtaining stable laser beam output and improving the conversion efficiency of a wavelength conversion element, and to provide an image display device, a projector, and a monitoring device. SOLUTION: Temperature detection starts before the temperature of the wavelength conversion element begins to become stable (T<SB>1</SB>-T<SB>2</SB>in Fig. 3) after pulse emission starts, thus preventing an error from occurring between the phase matching temperature of the wavelength conversion element and actual temperature in detection considering the relationship between the thermal capacity of the wavelength conversion element and that of a thermistor, and detecting the phase matching temperature considering the wavelength absorption content of the wavelength conversion element reliably.
