PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type measuring instrument without having to use a light guide material and that is less apt to receive regarding constraints on layout. SOLUTION: The pointer type measuring instrument A comprises a display plate 1, a pointer 2 arranged ahead of the display plate 1, a driving device 3 for driving the pointer 2, and a light source 4 for supplying illumination light L to a light-receiving section 2g of the pointer 2. The driving device 3 is provided with a reflecting surface 3d for reflecting the illumination light L from the light source 4, and the illumination light L is reflected by the reflecting surface 3d and is provided to the light-receiving section 2g of the pointer 2.
