PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid bearing device formed into a bearing structure capable of preventing a lubricating fluid from flowing out from a bearing opening of a fluid bearing even when large impact is applied to the fluid bearing having a communication hole; and a spindle motor with the fluid bearing mounted thereon. SOLUTION: This spindle motor 1 allows this fluid bearing device 2 to be directly mounted to a base 5 of a recording disc drive device, and is provided with the fluid bearing device 2, a stator 8 and a magnet 9. The fluid bearing device 2 has a rotor part 3, and a sleeve 13 rotatably supporting it. The magnet 9 is fixed to the rotor part 3 to face the stator 8, and generates a rotating magnetic field in cooperation with the stator 8. The sleeve 13 is provided with a projecting part 27 formed on a step part 24 of a sleeve body 22, and facing a thrust flange 16 in the axis direction, and mitigates high pressure P generated by impact or the like in a bearing gap of the fluid bearing device 2.
