PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic particle 3 which is excellent in dispersion stability in an electrophoretic dispersion liquid 4, is excellent in electrophoretic property and does not cause diffusion and aggregation even after stopping voltage application, and to provide an image display device 10 using the electrophoretic particle 3. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic particle 3 for an image display device 10 of electrophoretic method is prepared by grafting a graft polymer which has a side chain of a polar polymer block containing polar groups in a lipophilic polymer main chain such as hydrocarbon type polymer, halogenated hydrocarbon polymer or polysiloxane to the surface of fine particle core.
