The element (30) has a sealing lips base (34) with upper side fastenable indirectly to an edge area of an inner side of the windowpane (20) and lower side fastenable to a corresponding flange (44) by an adhesive tape (26). A groove for retaining the adhesive tape is formed in the lower side of the sealing lips base. The base serves as a spacer for the windowpane of the motor vehicle during hardening a pane adhesive. A sealing lip (32) runs from the lower side of the base, and another groove is formed in the upper side of the base.
