Flow directors (24,26) for an in-line heater unit (10) of a heated bath or pool controller, the heater unit comprising a heater tube (12) through which water may flow and one or more heater elements (18) located within the heater tube for heating water flowing through the heater tube. The flow directors (24,26) are arranged to be received and retained within the heater tube (12) of the heater unit (10) and are shaped to reduce the effective cross-sectional area of at least a portion of the heater tube about the heater element(s) within the heater tube to enhance heat transfer from the heater elemetn(s) to water flowing through the heater tube.
