The filter (35) has a set of layers of metal webs (40) including metal wires (41, 42) that are interweaved with each other, where the filter is tubular in shape and includes an uniform circumference thickness. The metal webs are wound and pressed on a roller. The metal wires have a wire diameter in the range of 0.4 to 1.5 millimeter (mm). The metal webs have a web width that is double the wire diameter of the metal wires. The metal webs have another web width in the range of 0.8 to 4 mm. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a filter for a gas generator.
