The method involves introducing a pressurized fluid, for providing a support counteractive to a pressing tool (5) during positioning of a groove, before implementing a step of the positioning of the groove or a groove-like recess in a hollow space (8) of a work piece (1) e.g. pipe section. The pressurized fluid is maintained for a period of a forming process for positioning of the groove or the groove-like recess. Hydraulic pressure in formed within the hollow space so that wall sections of the work piece are deformed.
