The injector (5) has a pressure transmitting device (7) with a pressure transmitting piston (9) limiting a control chamber (6), a differential pressure chamber (19) and a compression chamber (23). The fuel staying under the pressure is compressible into the compression chamber by the piston. The piston has an attenuation recess (41) in a guiding section (37), where the recess is extended into the piston in an axial direction and hydraulically connected with the compression chamber. The recess expands the diameter of the piston with a compression stroke of the piston.
