PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receiving element capable of reducing its size and its mounting area. SOLUTION: The light receiving element is the one for receiving lights made incident to it from its front side. It has lead frames 1, 4 having respectively header portions 1a, 4a which are opposed to each other in its front portion and have different positions with respect to its front and back directions. A plurality of light receiving chips 2, 5 is die-bonded respectively to the corresponding header portions 1a, 4a of the lead frames 1, 4 in the state of their light receiving planes being directed to its front side. It has transparent resins 6, 7 which seal at least the plurality of light receiving chips 2, 5 integrally with each other. The transparent resins 6, 7 have a common lens portion 90 which leads respective incident lights L1, L2 to the light receiving chip 2, and leads respective incident lights L3, L4 to the light receiving chip 5.
