PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device in which execution of desired processing can be indicated only from a main unit even if switches in the operation part is limited to the necessary minimum and which enables both improvement in user operability and cost cutting. SOLUTION: When detachment of an ink tank is detected in the mounting position of a tank holder in an ink tank exchange mode, the order of the detachment is memorized and compared with a table after a cover is closed, wherein the table defines processing corresponding to the order of the detachment of the ink tank.
