PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator which is easy in processing of a terminal of a coil constituting a stator. SOLUTION: The linear actuator includes a stator 1 having a yoke 2 comprising a ferromagnetic material and having a coil unit 3 accommodated inside the yoke, and a moving segment 5 having a plurality of main ring magnets 71a, 71b, 71c, which are arranged inside the coil unit 3 so that N poles and S poles are arranged alternately. In the coil unit 3, a plurality of multi-layer coils 31a, 31b, 31c are arranged in series, and each multi-layer coil is formed by winding one conductor by regular winding, with the winding start and the winding end being pulled out at a same position. In the coil unit 3, at least the multi-layer coil 31 on one end side and its adjacent multi-layer coil 32 are formed by winding the conductor in opposite directions with each other except for the upper-most layer, and the multi-layer coil 33 on the other end side is formed by winding the conductor in the same direction as the multi-layer coil 31 on one end side up to the upper-most layer, to form the coil unit 3.
