PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mount piezoelectric oscillator which improves workability during inspection and is also capable of contributing to miniaturization of a whole structure. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a surface mount piezoelectric oscillator comprising: a container body housing a crystal vibrating chip; a mounting base disposed on a lower surface of the container body via a pair of spacer members; a chip housing area which is provided between the container body and the mounting base and is opened in a direction where the spacer members do not exist; and an IC chip which is housed in the chip housing area while opposing a pair of side faces thereof to the spacer members, wherein, between the side faces of the IC chip, the side face that is not opposed with the spacer members, is exposed between the spacer members.
