PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable terminal satisfactorily maintaining receiving sensitivity and maintaining stable communication quality regardless of changes in how a user grips a terminal casing or where the user is located with respect to a base station. SOLUTION: At least three or more antenna elements 31, 32, and 33 for transmitting and receiving data by radio communication are separately arranged on the terminal casing 11 in the portable terminal 10, and a control circuit 41 for controlling the transmission/reception of data by radio communication is provided with an antenna switching function for selectively using an antenna element with the highest receiving sensitivity in the data transmission/reception based on the output of an angle sensor from among the installed antenna elements 31, 32 and 33.
