PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector or the like capable of adjusting brightness of a projection image according to both a projection distance and a zoom degree. SOLUTION: The projector 100 includes: a projection part 190 having a zoom adjusting part 196; a storage part 140 storing projection size data 142 in which the projection distance, a zoom adjustment value by the zoom adjusting part 196 and the size of the projection image are made to correspond to each other, and control data 144 in which the size and the control value of a lamp 192 are made to correspond to each other; a size decision part 160 deciding the size based on the projection distance, the zoom adjusting value and the projection size data 142; and a control part 130 deciding a control value based on the size and the control data 144, and also adjusting the brightness of the projection image by controlling the lamp 192 based on the control value.
