PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor for improving motor performance by reducing distortion of a stator core and magnetic flux leaked from the stator core to an airtight container. SOLUTION: Respective contact sections 516 of the stator core 510 brought into contact with the airtight container 1 have a plurality of slits 518a extended inwardly from the contact surface of the airtight container 1 in the radial direction of the stator core 510. When the stator core 510 is inserted into the airtight container 1 with shrinkage-fitting and press-fitting, stress applied on the contact section 516 of the stator core 510 is absorbed by the slit 518a, and the whole distortion of the stator core 510 can be reduced. A contact area of the stator core 510 against the airtight container 1 is reduced by the slit 518a, and the magnetic flux leaked from the stator core 510 to the airtight container 1 is also reduced.
