PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member capable of securing a sufficient deformation amount and reducing a load in absorbing the shock. SOLUTION: The shock absorbing member 1 is equipped with a pair of side wall parts 3 which have respective root edges 30 and tip end edges 31, and vertically provided while separating therefrom by a prescribed interval, a top wall part 2 which is interposed amidst a pair of tip end edges 31, bendingly continued to the respective parts of the pair of tip end edges 31, and where a load is directly or indirectly input from a collision target person, and a pair of fixed rib part 4 which are bendingly continued to the respective parts of the pair of root edges 30 to the direction reverse to the bending direction relative to the tip end edges 31 of the top wall part 2, extended toward the outside relative to the pair of side wall parts 3 and fixed to a base material 91.
