<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus suppressing the back of the transfer material from being soiled due to toner stuck to a transfer member which transfers the toner image to the transfer material from the intermediate transfer body, when toner images are superposed on an intermediate transfer body each time the intermediate transfer body rotates. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 is constituted so that when a toner image on the intermediate transfer body 5 passes through a transfer area N2 without being transferred to a transfer material P, an electric field in a direction opposite to a transfer electric field is generated in the transfer area N2. When an area of the intermediate transfer body 5, where a toner image is not formed, passes through the transfer area N2, an electric field in the direction same as the transfer electric field is generated in the transfer area N2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
