<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print to any printer available on a network without having to perform the settings required in conventional printing arrangements. <P>SOLUTION: A computer-implemented method for a print driver to process print data is provided. The method includes a step for the print driver to receive settings data that indicates user-specified settings to be used to process the print data; a step for discovering, over a network, a set of printing devices that are available to process the print data and installed options and current settings of each printing device in the set of printing devices; a step for generating a graphical user interface that includes data that identifies the set of one printing devices and allowing a user to select a particular printing device; a step for detecting a user selection of a particular printing device; a step for processing the print data and generating processed print data that conforms to a format supported by the particular printing device, in response to detecting the user selection of the particular printing device from the set of printing devices; and a step for causing the processed print data to be transmitted over a network to the particular printing device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
