A domestic appliance with a detergent solution tub (1), which at least in certain regions is made of plastic, has a ballast weight (2), which consists of plastic and is fastened to the tub (1).The mechanical connection between the ballast weight (2) and the contact area (11a) of the tub (1) by means of a plastics welding process produces an integral bond. The ballast weight (2) preferably consists of a thermoplastic with metal-containing particles embedded in its material matrix. To provide sufficient welding material, the ballast weight (2) and/or the contact area (11a) of the tub (1) has at least one raised connecting element (12a to 12f; 22a to 22h), which corresponds with a uniform contact area (11a, 21a) of the part respectively to be connected.
