<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly operate a timer reproduction function at specified time of day even when reproduction of a specified content is impossible. <P>SOLUTION: When a reproduction preparation time which is a predetermined time before scheduled playback time comes under the control of a content acquisition controller 311, reproduction preparation processing is started for receiving contents for timer playback from this server device, for playback by connecting with an external server device through a communication interface 37 based on information about contents for timer playback stored in a timer setting storage unit 342.
