PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a near infrared ray-absorbing material that absorbs a near infrared in a long wavelength near infrared region of 900-1,100 nm, has less absorption in a visible region and excellent compatibility with resins and solvents. SOLUTION: The near infrared ray-absorbing material is represented by general formula [1] (M is a metal atom; A and B are each a carbonyl group-containing heterocyclic ring; X is pyridinium or an ammonium cation having a≥6C substituent group).
