PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide umbrella-mislaying prevention apparatus which has an umbrella part which can open and close, an opening and closing means which opens and closes this umbrella part, and a sensor part which activates the opening and closing means, and solves the problem that the area of an umbrella storage space becomes vast although thing left behind are recognized by sensing the approach of human beings by the sensor part and by opening and closing the umbrella part. SOLUTION: When putting an umbrella in the umbrella stand which prepares a locking mechanism that the general public uses, locking it by a key which is equipped with an IC chip, and finishing some business and coming out of a building, people who are passing through a gate notices that they forget their umbrella, umbrella-mislaying is prevented since people go to the umbrella stand to take the umbrella, carrying away of the key which is equipped with the IC chip is prevented, and the management and posttreatment of a lost umbrella can be eliminated because radio communication with the IC chip is performed and a voice generation part vocalizes a given message such as, for example, "You forget your umbrella.
