The method involves representing an operating element (SE) on a graphical user interface (GUI). The operating element is operated by a user of the GUI with an operating unit (M). The accuracy for accessing operating element is measured. The representation of the operating element is scaled on the basis of the measured accuracy. A lower limit and an upper limit are provided for scaling by the user. An independent claim is also included for an indicator for a technical device.
