PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unlocking system and a method for allowing miscellaneous objects around a user to be used as keys and preventing effectively a third party from unlocking even when an image for authentication or an object to be imaged being the origin of the image for authentication functioning as the key is stolen. SOLUTION: A key object that the user desires to let it function as the key is selected among the images obtained by imaging operation by use of a digital camera 12 of a cellular phone 2 to generate a secret code. Since the keys to be selected, namely, the key objects exist endlessly, it is difficult for the third party to unlock by utilizing the same key as that of the legitimate user, namely, the key object or the code being equivalent to it.
