A method and system for authenticating users are provided. The method comprises the following steps: a managing station transmits an authentication request of the authentication protocol to a managed device by using the management protocol, and transmits a user authentication information to the said managed device; the said managed device, based on the said received user authentication information, authenticates users by using said authentication protocol or the authentication server, the authentication response message, carrying the authentication result, of the said authentication protocol is sent back to the said managing station by usingthe said management protocol. The system mainly comprises: a managing station and a managed device; or, a managing station, a managed device and a back end authentication server. Using the present invention, a method and system for user authentication in the management protocol are provided, which have a good expansibility and a wide applied range. |
