IMPROVED START-UP METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR USE IN STREAMING CONTENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved streaming media methods and apparatuses that significantly reduce the startup time that the end-user experiences.

SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting media contents from a server device to a client method. The method includes the steps of: (a) judging whether the server device can transmit media contents in response to a startup request from the client device; (b) in the client device, judging parameter values of communication conditions for transmitting the media contents when a result of the step (a) is positive; (c) transmitting the startup request for transmitting media contents through fast startup; and (d) transmitting the media contents from the server device to the client device through the fast startup, wherein the startup request includes parameters whose parameter values from the client device to the server device are determined in the step (b).
