PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of suppressing dropping of the quantity of peripheral light even using a small-sized lens that provides such an effective image diameter as approximately equal to the image size of an imaging element. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: a correction amount limiting means 107 for limiting the amount of correction obtained by a shake correcting means that optically performs shake correction; a focal distance detecting means 123 for detecting focal distance variation caused by movement of a magnification lens 133; a stop aperture diameter restricting means 121 for restricting a maximum aperture diameter of a stop 132; and a control means 120. In accordance with a detection value of the focal distance detecting means 123, the control means 120 controls the correction amount limiting means 107 and the aperture diameter restricting means 121.
