A longitudinal displacement unit for a universal joint shaft is provided to operate two shaft elements under normal state control along a longitudinal shaft. A longitudinal displacement unit(1) for a universal joint shaft comprises a longitudinal shaft(2), a first shaft element(3) equipped with a first groove(7) that is arranged in a circumferential direction inside an outer surface(6), a second shaft element(11) equipped with a second groove(16) that is arranged in a circumferential direction, a sleeve type cage(19) interposed between the first and second shaft elements inside a penetration bore(15) and equipped with penetration holes(23,26) and a compression spring(38) and at least one stop unit(9,10,17,18) that is contacted to the compression spring.
