An optical pickup device is provided to apply a magnetic field to a magnetic fluid through current control of exciting coils and to keep magnetic liquid in a liquid or gel state so as to change an intrinsic frequency according to the rotary frequency change, thereby securing stable operation at both low and high speed modes. An optical pickup device comprises a lens holder(40) supporting an objective lens(71), a support unit(20) separated from the lens holder, and a plurality of suspension members(80) whose one side is fixed to the lens holder and the other side is supported by the support unit to move the lens holder. The support unit includes a fixed member(21), combining parts(22), a magnetic fluid(24), and exciting devices. The combining parts are arranged at the fixed member to combine each suspension member. The exciting devices apply a magnetic field to the magnetic fluid. The combining parts include first and second combining parts(23a,25a), and a magnetic fluid receiving part(24a) which is sealed between the first and second combining parts. The exciting devices include exciting coils(31,32) installed on the fixed member.
