The invention relates to a light-emitting component, in particular a display or illumination device, having a plurality of organic elements which are formed such that they emit light of different colours. Each organic element comprises an electrode, a counterelectrode and a stack of organic layers having a layer region which transports holes and a layer region which transports electrons, each of said regions having the same thicknesses for all of the plurality of organic elements, as well as a light-emitting layer region. The light-emitting layer region comprises an emission zone which is at a distance from a surface of the electrode/counterelectrode, said distance being in a layer thickness range for all organic elements. The layer thickness range depends on the material of the electrode/counterelectrode, on an emission wavelength of an intensity maximum of a photoluminescence spectrum of the light-emitting layer region and on the index of refraction at the emission wavelength for a region of the stack of organic layers between the emission zone and that surface of the electrode/counterelectrode which faces the light-emitting layer region. If the electrode/counterelectrode is made from a dielectric electrode material, the distance also depends on the thickness of the dielectric electrode material and its index of refraction at the emission wavelength. |
