The method involves determining or measuring a heat output of air that is to be supplied to an evaporator (12) of a refrigerant circuit (10) depending on a temperature and/or absoluter and/or relative humidity of the air. A refrigerant mass flow is preset by another evaporator (14) such that the mass flow is sufficiently large for cooling the supplied air at a desired temperature. An expansion chamber (34) is connected to the evaporator (14) and is controllable for changing a cross-section and/or a rate of opened and closed condition times. An independent claim is also included for a method for recognizing an overheating danger of an evaporator supplied from another evaporator with compressed refrigerant.
