An image forming apparatus and its control method are provided to prevent a user from being confused by a change in a print density by printing at least one of a plurality of test images and text in various print densities. A controller checks whether checking of a print density is received(400). When checking of a print density is received, the controller receives a type of paper(410). The controller checks whether changing of at least one print position of test images and text is received(420). When changing of at least one of print position of test images and text is received, an input unit further receives change position information according to the received change in the print position(430). The controller controls to change at least one print position of the test images and text by using the received change position information(440). The controller prints at least one of test images and text in a print density according to a normal print mode and a toner saving mode(450).
