A method for a figure conversion service of a background image of a terminal and a recording medium are provided to take a picture of a target object according to a mask image and to synthesize the taken image with a background image in order to offer a user's own background image. A background image converted into a figure is demanded to a background image server(S101-S113). The background image and more than one mask image corresponding to the background image are received from the background image server(S115). One of the mask images is selected to display the selected mask image on a screen of a terminal. The displayed mask image is adjusted to a target object to take a partial picture(S117). The partial picture and the background image are synthesized to generate a synthesized background image(S119).
