A formation of deep pit areas and the use thereof in fabrication of an optical recording medium are provided to form a deeper pit in a stack by processing a part of a first layer to be transferred from a metastable thermodynamics state to a stable thermodynamics state. A stack(2) includes at least one first layer(3) made of a material capable of changing the physical state, and a second layer(4) made of the same material, but of a different physical state. A pit(1) is formed from the stack. One area of the first layer is processed to be transferred from the initial physical state to a state corresponding to the physical state of the second layer. The second layer is formed on a substrate(5), and the stack is finished by depositing the first layer on the second layer.
