A G+E generation section combines the interpolation values GU and EF to compute (G+E)<SUB>V</SUB>. A G+E generation section combines the interpolation values GF and EU to compute (G+E)<SUB>H</SUB>. A combining section determines the signal G+E using (G+E)<SUB>H </SUB>and (G+E)<SUB>V</SUB>, the texture intensities T<SUB>H </SUB>and T<SUB>V</SUB>.
