The purpose is to provide a dispersing agent for a pigment, which has excellent pigment-dispersing properties so that a pigment can be blended into a cosmetic in a larger amount, and which, when blended into a cosmetic, can impart good sense of use, long-lasting makeup color, good aroma and long-term stability to the cosmetic. Thus, disclosed is a trehalose fatty acid ester composition prepared by esterifying trehalose with a fatty acid having 8 to 22 carbon atoms, which has a hydroxyl value of 20 to 500. In the composition, the trehalose fatty acid ester comprises a trehalose fatty acid diester, a trehalose fatty acid trimester, a trehalose fatty acid tetraester and a trehalose fatty acid pentaester in the total amount of 10 to 100% by area. Also disclosed is a cosmetic containing the trehalose fatty acid ester composition. |
