PREPARATION OF REFRACTORY FOR MAKING STEEL INGOTS

A method for manufacturing refractories for ingot making is provided to reduce alumina impurities included in steel, due to high corrosion resistance as the content of alumina in the inner refractory coming into contact with steel is low. A method for manufacturing refractories for ingot making comprises the steps of: making first and second refractory material compositions, separately, wherein the total alumina content of the first refractory material composition is below 5wt.%; obtaining a molded article of the dual-layer structure comprising first and second refractory layers by pouring the first and second refractory material compositions into a gap between an inner mold(10) and a region splitting mold(30) and a gap between an outer mold(20) and the region splitting mold and then pressing and molding the first and second refractory material compositions; and drying and plasticizing the molded article. A refractory forming mold comprises the pipe-shaped outer mold; the pipe-shaped inner mold positioned in the outer mold; and the pipe-shaped region splitting mold interposed between the outer and inner molds.
