A 3/8 type steel cord for a tire of a vehicle is provided to achieve light-weight of a tire and reduce manufacturing cost by preventing property degradation and by increasing strength. A 3/8 type steel cord for a tire of a vehicle comprises high carbon steel filaments with ultra high strength that have carbon content of 0.95~2.0 weight % and tensile strength of 380kg/mm2. In addition, diameters of inner and outer layer filaments fulfill the following equation: dc = (1.05~1.10)xds.
