SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CO-CHANNEL INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION IN CELLULAR OFDM SYSTEMS

A system and a method for canceling co-channel interference in cellular OFDM systems are provided to reduce effects of narrow band interference by acquiring frequency diversity by diffusing energy of transmission symbols through two different sub-carriers. A system for canceling co-channel interference in cellular OFDM systems includes a mobile station receiver(500) and a base station transmitter. The mobile station receiver has a feedback generation unit, an MLE(Maximum Likelihood Estimator) CCI(Co-Channel Interference) remover, and a PR(Power Ratio) calculation unit(570). The feedback generation unit generates a feedback signal to control transmission power of a transmission frame and then supplies the generated signal to a base station. The MLE CCI remover cancels the co-channel interference from the symbols of the transmission frame by using the maximum likelihood estimation method.
