A membrane-electrode assembly for a fuel cell is provided to improve the ion conductivity by maintaining a sufficient moisture content even when reducing or excluding external moisture supply, thereby improving the quality of a fuel cell. A membrane-electrode assembly for a fuel cell comprises: an electrolyte membrane(201); and an anode and a cathode disposed opposite to each other with the electrolyte membrane interposed therebetween, and each having a catalyst layer(203,205) and a gas diffusion layer. The gas diffusion layer comprises a substrate(209a,209b), and a microporous layer(207a,207b) formed on the opposite surface to the catalyst layer, wherein the microporous layer comprises an inorganic material selected from the group consisting of conductive powder, hydrophobic additives, silica powder, calcium chloride and soda lime(CaO+NaOH). |
