A long message data transmission method to a roaming terminal and a device therefor are provided to enable a user to select whether to transmit long message data to a mobile terminal which uses a roaming service, thereby reducing charges about a long message data service during roaming. When a transmission request for long message data is received from a sending terminal, the request is stored(400,410). A location register confirms a location of a receiving terminal(420). It is confirmed whether the receiving terminal is set to receive roaming long message data(430). If so, a long message notify message containing a URL(Uniform Resource Locator) is transmitted to the receiving terminal(440). The receiving terminal delivers a signal which demands long message transmission to a long message data transmission device corresponding to a URL address(450).
