A method for operating a card settlement terminal is provided to enhance efficiency of an IC card storing a plurality of payment tools by enabling the card settlement terminal to select a predetermined payment tool among the payment tools stored in the IC card depending on a payment amount. A card settlement terminal checks a payment amount inputted through a key input unit and checks a type of the payment tool assigned with priority by responding to the checked payment amount(305). The card settlement terminal provides a signal for calling the checked priority payment tool to the IC card(320). The card settlement terminal automatically provides the signal for calling the next payment tool to the IC card when the first payment tool is not found in the IC card(340). |
