An image display device is provided to perform coordinate detection through reading of a photo-sensor with desired precision in an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) with the photo-sensor. A display part(10) of an LCD is formed on an insulating substrate. The LCD includes a plurality of gate lines outputted from a gate drive circuit(2), a plurality of data lines(5) outputted from a data drive circuit(1), and display pixel electrodes and pixel driving thin film transistors disposed at the crossing portions of the gate lines and the data lines. A plurality of read signal lines(8) are connected to pixel sensor circuits disposed within the display part, and pulled out of a display area of the display part. A timing controller(13) outputs a discharge signal(14) for initializing a photo-sensor detection circuit(9) to the photo-sensor detection circuit. A photo-sensor signal processing circuit(42) receives a gate drive circuit control signal(41) and the discharge signal from the timing controller, and then processes a signal of a photo-sensor detection output(17).
