A photographing apparatus capable of communication and a control method thereof are provided to communicate with an external device while photographing an image, generate data received from the external device as meta data, and store the generated data with the image, thereby providing convenience to a user. A photographing apparatus includes an image photographing unit(210), a storage unit(250), a display unit(270), a communication interface(240), and a control unit(290). The image photographing unit photographs an image. The storage unit stores the photographed image. The display unit displays the photographed image. The communication interface performs communication with an external device. The control unit generates an alarm for notifying a user of the reception of data if the communication interface receives data from the external device, and controls the display unit to display the generated alarm with the photographed image on the display unit. |
