METHOD OF REAL TIME FACE RECOGNITION, AND THE APPARATUS THEREOF

A method and a device for recognizing a face in real-time are provided to manage lighting change by extracting a feature robust to the lighting change based on MCT(Modified Census Transform) and output a high reliable face recognition result in consideration of a recognition result of continuously obtained frames. An image acquiring device(110) captures an image to be recognized, and MCT table based face detecting device(120) detects only face from the capture image. A primary face recognizer(130) extracts a feature robust to lighting from the detected face, and recognizes the face by using extracted feature. A secondary face recognizer(100) recognizes the face again by considering recognition results of the recognized image and a surrounding frame at the same time. Face recognition robust to lighting is performed by extracting information representing structural features of the image based on MCT and performing an outer shape-based face recognition algorithm based on the extracted information.
