A quaternary trifluoromethylcyclohexane derivative is provided to obtain a highly electrical polar molecule, particularly a liquid crystal composition having improved dielectric anisotropy and quality. A quaternary trifluoromethylcyclohexane derivative is a compound represented by the formula of w-A-x-CY-Z(CF3), wherein w is selected from the group consisting of R, OR, COOR, COR, OOCR, OOCOR, O(CH2)nOR, CH=CHCOOR, CR=CR-COOR, CN, H, I, NH2, NHR, NR2, SR, Br, Cl, F, NO2, N=C=O, N=C=S, CF3, NHCOR, OCF3 and a combination thereof, wherein R is a C12 or lower linear or branched alkyl; A is selected from the group consisting of aryl, biphenyl, polyphenyl, cyclohexyl, cyclohexenyl, dioxolane, dioxane, bridged bicyclic, pyridine, pyrimidine, pyrazine, pyridazine, tetrazine and a combination thereof; x is selected from the group consisting of a single bond, CH=NR, CH=CHR', N=N, COO, COS, CONH, (CH2)n, N=C=N, O, CH2O, (CH2)nNH, NH, N+(O-)=N, N=CHCH=N, COO(CH2)nOOC, (CH2)nCOO, ethyne, CH=N+(O-), O(CH2)nO and a combination thereof, wherein R or R' is a C12 or lower alkyl or aryl, and n is 1-5; Z is COOR(wherein R is aryl, saturated or unsaturated linear, branched or cyclic aliphatic group, and COOR includes a C4-C6 lactone), COH, CH2OH, CH=CRR'(wherein R or R' is a C12 or lower alkyl or aryl), and a combination thereof; and CY is selected from cyclohexane and a substituted cyclohexane.
