The penetrant for coloured penetrant flaw detection consists of an organic dye and solvent. At least one dark-red organic dye is used, which a bis-azo dye, containing in its structure, on the second position of the naphthalene ring, a hydroxy group, and in the phenyl rings, at least two methyl groups, and/or bis-azo dye, containing on the second position of the naphthalene ring, an ethylamino group, with increased brightness and colour intensity, as well as increased solubility in non-polar organic solvents.
